The Organisation of the Congregation
The Session (Elders)
Our congregation is governed by elders, one of whom is the pastor. The elders are chosen by the congregation on the basis of the Biblical qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 and are ordained to office upon acceptance of the congregation's call. The group of elders is known as the Session
which meets regularly throughout the year to oversee the spiritual welfare of the congregation. Each elder is allocated a number of families for which he has a specific responsibility of pastoral care.
While the session has full responsibility for the spiritual oversight of the congregation it is nevertheless subject to the higher courts of the Church – the Presbytery and the Synod.
The Deacons' Board
The Deacons look after the material and practical side of Church life. At present we have two Deacons who, like the Elders, are men chosen by the congregation on the basis of biblical qualifications.
